Truro School’s sixth-form students had plenty to celebrate this A-Level results day, with 73% of all grades at A*to B, over 45% at A* and A, and over 20% at A*.

Over 92% of Extended Project Qualification (EPQ) outcomes were A*and A, 88% of the Leith’s cookery qualifications were Distinction or Merit, and two double Distinctions were achieved in Ctec PE.

The hard work of students has resulted in places being secured at universities including Oxford, Cambridge and McGill University in Canada, as well as medical schools and music conservatoires.

Moving forward, students plan to study engineering, law, architecture, archaeology, sports, geology, software engineering and illustration. Others hope to go directly into industries including pilot training and leading apprenticeship programs.

Deputy head girl Lexie Craze balanced her scholastic life with a place on the Team GB fencing team. She achieved two A*s in maths and physics and two As in economics and an AS in further maths. She will study economics and politics at Durham University.

“I’ve been at Truro School since I was three and started fencing young,” she said. “I’ve learnt to manage my time well and understand that I perform better when I’m busy.

“The school has been incredible and so supportive. The teachers were amazing at giving me work before I went away to fence, or helping me to catch up when I was back.”

Aimee scored two A*s in biology and chemistry, an A in geography and a distinction in the Level 3 Leiths Extended Certificate in Professional Cookery. She has secured a place at Exeter Medical School, starting in 2025.

“I chose to stay at Truro School for Sixth Form because of the existing network of friends and the security it offered me. The staff have been amazing,” she said.

Boarder Macarena landed three As in Spanish, business and psychology and a B in English. She will study International Management at King’s College London. “I was really stressed but I’ve done better than expected,” she said, adding that she would miss the school and its community.

Andy Johnson, head of Truro School, said: "I am incredibly proud of this year group. The students are a real credit to both the school and themselves. Their ambition, dedication, and courage have led to these outstanding outcomes.

“Once again, over 90% of our students have secured or reached destinations of choice within less than a day of results being published. We wish them all the best as they embark on their exciting new journeys, and our dedicated staff remain on hand for those seeking ongoing advice and support.”
