A body of a women was found at Charlestown harbour this morning (Saturday, January 11).

Police were called following reports of a body being located at the site near St Austell.

Emergency services arrived at the harbour and the women was confirmed deceased at the scene. Her next of kin have been informed.

The police are now urging the public to report and not share any circulating footage they discover on social media.

A spokesperson for the St Austell local policing team said: “Police were called on the morning of Thursday 11 January to reports of a body being located at Charlestown Harbour.

“Sadly, the woman was confirmed deceased and her next of kin have been informed. The death is not being treated as suspicious and a file will be prepared for the coroner.

Officers are aware of some footage circulating on social media that would cause further upset and distress to the woman's family and friends at this incredibly tough time for them.

“We ask that the public report the footage that has been shared to the relevant social media platform so that it can be removed.
